Kentucky man arrested on sexual abuse charges

Being accused of committing a sex crime is very serious. A mere accusation can affect a person’s entire life. If convicted, a person could face time behind bars and they may be forced to register as a sex offender.

A Kentucky man was recently charged with sexual abuse. The 34-year-old man has been accused of molesting a young girl that he was caring for. Police claim the man abused the young girl on two separate occasions over the last year. Police say the abuse occurred at the man’s home in Walton and at another residence in a nearby town.

The man was arrested earlier this month and charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse. If the man is convicted, he could face between five and 10 years in prison. He is currently being held in the Boone County Jail.

In a situation like this, a person would be wise to consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney. Because a person could face such harsh penalties, it is often best to rely on an attorney who has a broad understanding of the complicated justice system. An attorney can investigate the evidence in a case, negotiate with prosecutors and work vigorously to defend an individual against the charges.

Despite the serious nature of the charges, those who are charged with a sex crime still have rights. They are entitled to a strong defense and have the right to share their side of the story in court. In addition, those accused of sexual abuse remain innocent unless proven otherwise in court.
